Installation Instruction for PRCP Replacement Strut Fittings For the Raptor 50/60"

Wear Safety Goggles and use Caution when working with hardened screws and tool bits as used in this installation. Hardened tool bits can shatter and small hardened screws can break if overloaded

Find the side hole in the strut fitting that the chaser (longest) SHCS will fit into. It will go about half way into strut fitting.

Screw into Strut Fitting until screw comes out other side. Remove - Repeat with all strut support fittings.

Install Strut Fitting into aluminum boom support (strut). Use small drop of blue Locktite on threads of short screws and then install into strut. Start by hand. Use Allen hex driver to finish installing  SHCS until it is  completely through strut and then tighten. (Ball tipped drivers are not recommended for small screws as used in this product.)

The Nut is then installed after applying a small amount of Blue Locktite to the protruding threads. Tighten nut while holding SHCS tight with driver. Excess thread may be carefully ground off with a Dremel wheel. Follow all safety instructions for Dremel use.

Installation Instructions.

Wear Safety Goggles and use Caution when working with hardened screws and tool bits as used in this installation. Hardened tool bits can shatter and small hardened screws can break if overloaded

Remove all old screws and plastic fittings from the struts. This can be aided by the application of heat to the aluminum strut tube if old fittings were glued in.

Your new strut fittings have a cross hole that is larger in dia on one side than the other. The larger hole will allow the 2 mm "Chaser" (Longest) socket head cap screw to easily start and finish threads in the fitting. When the SHCS is installed with the nut this format will act as a jam nut for added security of the installation. Find the side hole in the strut fitting that the chaser (longest) SHCS will fit into. It will go about half way into strut fitting. Using a good hex driver,  run the chaser screw through the hole until it shows on the other side of the strut fitting. Remove "Chaser" screw and continue on to the next Strut fitting. Note: Ball End Drivers are not recommended, as they tend to strip easily when using on small screws. You can also use the "Chaser" screw to run through the Raptor strut holes as well.

Install the strut fitting into the strut. Check to see that the hole is cleanly aligned with the hole in the strut fitting. Although this has not been a problem, you may run into it.  If holes are not lined up, file the end of the strut, a few strokes at a time, until the holes line up correctly.

Next, add a very small amount of Locktite on the end of the shorter 2 mm SHCS. Start the short 2 mm SHCS into the strut by hand. Use your hex driver to finish running the SHCS in and then snug it up against the strut.

Add a small amount of Blue Locktite to the protruding thread and install the 2 mm nut by hand until against the strut. While holding the SHCS tight with your hex driver, tighten the nut without turning the screw.

The excess screw may be ground off with a Dremel. Go slow so as not to over heat the screw and nut. Overheating can render the Locktite useless.

After all strut fittings are installed, Install on machine one end and one strut at a time. Install the first strut to the frame first. Note that the strut will be straight out from the chassis. Gently bend the strut in towards the mount bracket on the boom. You can over bend slightly. Remove from frame and attach to fin bracket, keeping the end that was adjusted at the frame end correctly located. After attaching to the fin bracket you will find the strut needs to be bent out a little until it is close to in line with the frame. Do this gently until it is close to where it needs to be. Now reattach at frame end. Repeat for opposite side.
